Module Description

iDT Catalogue Builder is used to develop online catalogue files that can be recognized by the module "iDT Update".

How to Use

There are three steps required to making your catalogue file. The first is to insure you have a web-host which allows you to access your account using FTP (file transfer protocal). The second is to insure that all your iDT modules and related files are placed in the same folder of your web-host directory (of any name you choose). Finally you can fire up iDT Catalogue Builder.

Once in the catalogue builder, you will see two text entry boxes. Enter the name of your catalogue in the top box and the FTP address of your new folder in the following format.

ftp://accountname:accountpassword@ftp.webhost.com/modules/

The account name is whatever you have registered with your host, the password is the same password you use to access your account and the modules folder represents the generic folder in which all the iDT modules and related files are kept.

Finally, click the "Build" button, a new catalogue file will be generated, encrypted and saved in your iDT/modules directory. This file must be moved to the modules/iDTUpdate/ directory in order to work properly.

The process for the encryption will not be divulged, nor will the access key be made public or distributed for security purposes. iDT Update uses the same process to decrypt the file and read it for its uses. Please be aware that the Imagination Works is not responsible for any undesired access to your web-host account and will not be held liable for any damaged or lost data. That being said, it's a good idea to open a second web-account specifically for the purpose of iDT module distribution with a separate password.

Problems?

  • iDT Catalogue Builder requires the format shown above in order to work properly, if you cannot get iDT Update to connect using catalogues this module has built, the problem may lie in your host's FTP policy or availability
  • Please notify the Imagination Works immediately if you feel your web-host account security has been compromised and change your security information (such as your password) as soon as possible.
  • The file name that is created will be the same as the catalogue name you enter in the entry box.
